About

Emily Ward is a self-taught acrylic artist, based in Austin, TX. She has a studio practice out of Art Hub ATX. Her work consists of lifestyle landscapes that use contrasting color to create vibrancy and reflect the world as she experiences it. As a wheelchair user constantly on the move, she paints from a place of juxtaposition, exploring how everyday life is perceived through joy and positivity.

Her paintings capture a crowded bar, street views, passing trees, and shifting light—ordinary moments treated as a fleeting moment. Working somewhere between impressionism and realism, she builds compositions without black or brown pigments, using color contrast to create depth, movement, and luminosity.

Her work affirms joy, motion, and presence, pushing back against social expectations of disabled folks. Ultimately, the paintings reflect a belief that life is expansive, playful, and vibrant when fully noticed.
